This image was inspired by a friend that had asked me for an illustration of a warrior Drow. He’s acutally the person who got me into dark elves by reading the fiction of R.A. Salvatore. As high school kids we were excited by the adventures of Drizzt. This image isn’t a depiction of Drizzt but rather just a Drow fighter standing atop a beheaded dark orc. I stayed away from the typical stylings of European armor and weapons and instead looked at South East Asian art for inspiration. To me he feels regal and at the same time flamboyant. With a good amount of “Yeah, come and get some if you can.”
